John W. Wiseman, DVM

Dr. John Wiseman graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in June of 1970. He spent a year in a large animal practice in Atkinson, Illinois. In June of 1971, he started an internship at the Illinois Equine Hospital in Naperville, Illinois. In 1976, he and his partner, Jim Siegrist (now retired), purchased the ambulatory portion of the practice from the Illinois Equine Hospital. 

Both he and his wife, Candy, have a lifelong interest in horses. Currently they breed, raise and then sell and/or race Thoroughbred horses. They have three trail horses, Crook, a Missouri Foxtrotter, Canjondi, a retired Thoroughbred race horse and Goldie, a palomino Tennessee Walker.

Heather L. Huffman, DVM

Dr. Heather Huffman joined Illinois Equine Field Service in 2004. She obtained both her undergraduate degree in Animal Science in 2000 and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2004 from the University or Illinois in Champaign. She has had a strong equine interest since she began riding at the age of seven, and her focus throughout her college career was the horse. Dr. Huffman enjoys and stresses the importance of client education and preventative medicine.

Currently, Dr. Huffman lives in Elburn with her small animal veterinarian husband, Joel, their young son, JJ, and a collection of animals: Bogey (thoroughbred horse), Callie (Morgan cross), Birdie (dog), Mulligan (cat), Sandy and Divot (guinea pigs), and one unnamed goldfish!

James I. Siegrist, DVM  (RETIRED)

Dr. Siegrist retired in September of 2016.  We wish him well in all of his future endeavors!

Dr. James Siegrist graduated from Wesleyan University, Middletown, CT with a B.A. in Chemistry in 1966. He graduated from University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 1970 and then spent a year working for a mixed animal practice in Galva, IL. In 1971 he became an ambulatory veterinarian for Illinois Equine Hospital & Field Service in Naperville. In 1976, he and Dr. John Wiseman became the owners of Illinois Equine Field Service. In 1996 they moved the practice to Elburn.

He has had a life-long interest in horses. He currently has two horses, Wall-E a Thoroughbred, Dusty, an Arab-Quarter horse cross and Miss Kitty, a mule. He spends most of his time trail riding and horse camping.
